Our Health Insurance Changed to Self-Insurance?

There's a plan to change our group health insurance to a self-insurance model. This is a huge change and will affect active employees and retirees. It will also likely have a big impact on the health care market in Wisconsin.
Contact your legislator to request more public input. Two organizations, POWRS and ACE, have already written about some of the concerns. See their articles. ACE has also scheduled an information meeting on Monday, September 26.

LFT: Study shows teacher pay losing ground
(Baton Rouge – August 31, 2016) Teacher salaries are falling behind those of similar professions, according to a new study from the Economic Policy Institute which reveals that U.S. teachers’ weekly wages are 17 percent lower than comparable workers’.
Dues Increase Notice 2016
On August 4, 2016 at the scheduled BCFPE Executive Board Meeting & June 22nd General Membership Meeting, membership were notified of the pass thru dues increase for both the state and national federations. The pass thru dues increase totals $0.37per pay making the BCFPE dues deduction a total of $23.96per pay effective September 1, 2016.
We understand this is a tough year for all employees and considered every alternative. The increase is a pass-through to cover the monthly increases raised by our AFT-Maryland and AFT National affiliations.
Trade Unionists Around the Country Stand with Detroit Educators
